ST. LOUIS, Missouri (March 8, 2022) – AB InBev and its Upcycled Certified™ ingredients business, EverGrain, is proud to announce that it was named the most innovative company in North America and the twelfth most innovative company globally by Fast Company. The honor was awarded due to the company’s sustainability efforts, including those of EverGrain, which upcycles spent barley from the beer brewing process into nutritious protein ingredients for the food and beverage industry.
“The innovation journey is very hard, with countless challenges and setbacks, so this is a truly special recognition,” said Gregory Belt, EverGrain CEO. “The team is honored to be recognized for overcoming these obstacles to offer sustainable and nutritious barley-based ingredients, like our flagship protein ingredient, EverPro®, to the industry.”
Chief Marketing Officer and ZX Ventures Officer at AB InBev Pedro Earp shared this sentiment by announcing on LinkedIn, “This recognition is an amazing reflection of our continued transformation as a company that leverages the power of our brands and partnerships to solve some of the world’s biggest challenges through creativity and innovation.”
The announcement from Fast Company comes just days after EverGrain received the Upcycled Foods Association certification, another indication of the company’s commitment to sustainable food production.
“We’re just getting started,” Belt said. “There will be more good moments and, as always, challenges ahead, but we’ll retain a relentless focus on our mission: helping consumers to live healthier lives and remove millions of tons of greenhouse gasses in the process.”
